The Saudi Arabia U-17 national team lost to Austria, while Uzbekistan won in the first group phase match of the 2025 U-17 World Cup, Wednesday (5/11).
Competing at the Aspire Zone, Doha, the Austria vs Saudi Arabia duel was tough in the first half.A goalless draw marked the scoreboard until halftime.
Austria had to play with 10 men after Luca Weinhandl after receiving a second yellow card in the 40th minute.

Entering the second half, Austria managed to take a 1-0 lead through Johannes Moser’s penalty execution in the 55th minute.
Two minutes later, Saudi Arabia also lost one player after Nasser Alfihani was given a straight red card.
The referee gave a red card after Alfihani deliberately brought down an Austrian player who had a chance to score a goal through a quick counter-attack.
With a strength of 10 vs 10, Saudi Arabia failed to catch up until the end of the match.Austria actually had a chance to double its lead through the penalty spot in injury time.
Unfortunately, Vasilije Markovic’s penalty which went to the right of the goal was saved by Saudi Arabian goalkeeper Abdulrahman Alotaibi.Not long after, the referee blew the long whistle for Austria to win 1-0.
This result left Saudi Arabia slumpedĀ at the bottom of the standings with no points scored.Meanwhile, Mali and Austria are in first and second position.
In another match, Uzbekistan managed to win 2-1 over Paraguay.Meanwhile the Czechs won 6-1 over Tajikistan, while Ireland beat Panama 4-1.
