Forbidding French singer, Enrico Macias, held a concert which was planned to be held in Istanbul on Friday (5/9).
This prohibition arose after the call of protest from the Turkish public against the 86 -year -old musician related to his support for Israel.
The Provincial Government of Istanbul in his statement said the decision was taken to prevent the potential for demonstrations around the concert related to “genocide by Israeli terrorist countries in Gaza and its supporters.”
Meanwhile, Macias told

That he was surprised and sad that he could not appear in front of fans in Türkiye, a keen country became the destination of his concert for the past six decades.
“I was very surprised and sad that I could not meet with my fans, with whom I always share the value of peace and brotherhood,” he said.
Macias was born in Algeria from the Jewish family and since 1961 lived in France. While in France, Macias became one of the musicians who popularized Arabic-Andalusian music.
He indeed expressed support for Israel several times, including defending brutal aggression into the Palestinian Gaza Strip in October 2023 which was originally claimed as a form of reply to Hamas’s attacks but lasted to this day.
Israel’s brutal aggression into the Gaza Strip has killed 62 thousand Palestinians and made the area destroyed until hit by a famine.
“My problem is that I can’t stand the violence of terrorists,” Macias said in an interview on YouTube last August.
“And if there is violence on the Israeli side, it is because of Hamas,” he said, stressed that he had no problems with the Palestinian people.
