A high -ranking Indonesian Air Force officer, First Marshal Fajar Andriyanto, died in the accident.
“The flight has been equipped with a Flying License (SIT) Number SIT/1484/VIII/2025 issued by Lanud Atang Sendjaja. The aircraft was declared flight and was the second sortie that day,” said Head of the First Marshal Air Force Information Office I Nyoman Suadnyana in a written statement, Sunday.
Nyoman explained that the aircraft took off from the Atang Sendjaja Lanud at 09.08 WIB for the Dirgantara Sports Aviation Profitiations Training Mission as part of the development and maintenance of capabilities.
Around 09.19 WIB, the plane suffered loss of contact and was found to have crashed around the Astana TPU.
“The two crew members were immediately evacuated to RSAU Dr. M. Hassan Toto, but Marsma TNI Fajar was declared dead when he arrived at the hospital,” Nyoman said.
He explained that the exercise was carried out in the capacity of Marsma Fajar as a pilot and a person named Roni as a co-pilot.
The activity was part of a routine training in fostering the ability of FASI personnel, the parent of the national aerospace sports under the auspices of the Air Force.
Nyoman said that the Air Force together with related elements had carried out the evacuation and security of the scene and ensured that all handling procedures went according to the provisions.
“The body of Marsma TNI Fajar is currently in RSAU Lanud Atang Sendjaja for the next procession, while the location of the crash has been secured with a safety line by the authorities,” he said.
