Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) Bandung noted that the number of HIV patients undergoing treatment is still increasing even though the upward trend is starting to slow down. The majority of patients are of productive age, dominated by men.
Head of RSHS HIV Management, dr.Rudi Wisaksana, said that currently there are around 1,700 patients routinely seeking treatment at RSHS throughout 2025.
“The number is still increasing but has started to decrease compared to previous years. At RSHS we treat around 1,700, that’s around 1,700 people who are routinely seeking treatment. Currently, there are around 1,700. For the exact figure, maybe ask the health service, because that’s where the records are the most complete of all the places, right,” said Rudi when contacted, Tuesday (2/12).

He revealed that HIV patients are dominated by the productive age group 25-40 years, the majority are men. Most of them take advantage of BPJS financing services while undergoing therapy.
“Most use BPJS, but not all,” said Rudi.
In commemoration of World AIDS Day 2025, RSHS carries the theme “Embracing with Empathy” which is in line with the national theme “Together Facing Change: Maintaining the Sustainability of HIV Services.”
Rudi said one of the biggest problems that HIV/AIDS patients still face is stigma and discrimination, including in medical facilities.
“Even though services have improved, there is still stigma and discrimination. It hampers services, increases time and makes things difficult for patients. It must be eliminated,” he said.
He said health workers have a key role in maintaining inclusive quality services.
“Maybe because they are tired or have a lot of work, they accidentally stigmatize it. That’s why we are trying to improve it so that the service is friendlier to everyone,” he added.
This commitment was realized through the signing of a declaration by RSHS health workers on World AIDS Day.
Meanwhile, the Main Director of RSHS Bandung, dr.Rachim Dinata Marsidi emphasized that discrimination is not only a matter of service ethics, but also hinders the success of treatment.
“There must be no more discrimination in health services and there must be no obstacles for those who want to access services,” he stressed, in a release received at the same time.
Rachim said that Indonesia was committed together with the world to achieve the target of Ending HIV 2030, which requires cross-sector collaboration, service innovation, and continuous assistance for patients.
