Director General of Domestic Trade (Dirjen PDN)
Ministry of Trade
(Ministry of Trade) Iqbal Shoffan Shofwan confirmed the tax policy against
Online trader
The e-commerce platform does not have an impact on micro and small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), especially those on a micro scale.

So far
It’s not (influential).Because what is charged to those who are annual turnover are above Rp500 million. The thing below is not.And platform
e-commerce
Also its function is as a tax collector. And it
fair
, I think, “said Iqbal at the Ministry of Trade, Central Jakarta, Monday (4/8).
According to him, business actors affected by the tax obligation are classified in the category of Small and Medium Enterprises (UKM), not micro, based on the threshold of the specified turnover.
“Above Rp500 million means it is not a micro business, yes small and medium businesses. The turnover above is a year,” he said.
This tax policy refers to the Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) Number 37 of 2025 which officially takes effect on July 14, 2025.
In this regulation, the government appoints trading organizers through electronic systems (PMSE) such as Shopee and Tokopedia as Article 22 Income Tax Collectors (PPH) from online traders.
The amount of tax levies is set at 0.5 percent of the gross circulation, namely the total value of business revenue before deducting any deduction. However, this provision only applies to traders who have gross circulation of more than Rp500 million per year.
Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani previously stated that this policy was aimed at providing legal certainty and ease of tax administration for online businesses, without adding new obligations.
“This is to provide legal certainty and provide ease of tax administration for online businesses. Without any additional new obligations.
Online traders are also required to deliver a statement to the marketplace where they sell to prove whether the annual turnover exceeds the Rp500 million limit.
After the statement was received, the e-commerce platform must begin to collect taxes from the trader in the following month, as stated in Article 7 paragraph (3) of PMK 37/2025.
