Michael believes this target is an ambitious achievement.He is also optimistic that the Garuda squad can reach this point.
“The target of coach Hector [Indonesian National Futsal Team coach] is to reach the top eight. I hope, because we have a dream of going to the World Cup, we need to go to the semifinals,” said Michael in Jakarta, Wednesday (5/11).

By qualifying for the semifinals, Indonesia can secure tickets to the 2028 Futsal World Cup. Therefore, Michael hopes that this achievement can be achieved by Evan Soumilena and his friends.
“We can give our best in order to qualify for the next round. The target of the federation is of course first to get to the top eight but more than that, we have to get to the semifinals,” he said.
“Why? Because if Indonesia has a dream of entering the 2028 Futsal World Cup, it must be in the top four. So it must enter the semifinals,” he added.
Based on the drawing results for the 2026 Asian Futsal Cup in Jakarta, Wednesday (5/11).Indonesia will compete with Iraq, Kyrgyzstan and South Korea in the preliminary round of Group A.
The 2026 Futsal Asia Cup will take place in Jakarta from 27 January to 7 February 2026. The plan is that the two venues that will be used are the Indonesia Arena and the Jakarta International Velodrome.
This is the second time Indonesia has hosted the Asian Futsal Cup.The highest event in Asia was first held in Indonesia in 2002.
