The government is targeting the construction of 500
battalion
Territorial development in five years throughout Indonesia.Every year, there will be 100 development battalions formed.
Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin together with Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman and Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani reviewed one of the battalions that had been formed, namely Battalion TP 843/Patriot Yudha Vikasa (PYV) in Wanajaya, Bekasi, Wednesday (20/8).
Based on information from the Ministry of Defense, the formation of 500 battalions was said to have received budget support from the Ministry of Finance.
Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin said the development territorial battalion would support government programs.So far, there have been 100 battalions formed.
“The Ministry of Defense and the TNI ensures that the development territorial battalion will support the downstreaming program. Securing the downstreaming program and also securing the self -sufficiency program,” Sjafrie said.
In the territorial battalion battalion structure there is a health company.The existence of a health company is considered crucial as a form of readiness to face the threat of biosecurity in the future.
In addition, the experience of Pandemi Covid-19 shows that non-military threats can cause large casualties, both due to an outbreak of disease and natural disasters.
Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin said the health company in the battalion was expected to respond quickly in the event of a disaster in Indonesia.
“If there are natural disasters that 3,000-4,000 occur throughout Indonesia and also from the threat of disease. So that two functions both defense and security from the health sector to maintain the safety of all Indonesian people can be assisted by the TNI,” Budi said.
