The government together with the Indonesian Parliament and the Independent Driver Alliance (API) targeted the Zero Over Dimension Over Loading (ODOL) policy to take effect 2027. Related parties have formed a team to formulate special policies to realize these targets.
This agreement was conveyed by Deputy Speaker of the House Sufmi Dasco Ahmad after holding a meeting with government and fire representatives in the Parliament Complex, Senayan, on Monday (4/8).
“Towards Zero Odol earlier in 2027, we have agreed with the government and the Nusantara Logistics Driver Association (APLN) will form a joint team to formulate a number of things that are the aspirations of the friends of the Nusantara Logistics Driver Association,” Dasco said, quoting the official website of the National Police Traffic Corps, Tuesday (5/8).
The agreement was taken following the attention of President Prabowo Subianto on the acceleration of the implementation of Indonesia Zero Odol.
“Earlier it was conveyed by the Minister of State Secretary (Prasetyo Hadi) that the president paid carefully about the problem of toothpaste,” he said.
Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi said the government would immediately prepare further technical guidance regarding the agreement achieved at the meeting.
“We agreed that the need for a joint commitment to impose Zero Odol, and some things we must prepare relating to the implementation of Zero Odol we will immediately carry out as agreed together at the meeting earlier,” said Dudy.
“I feel this meeting is very good so that in the future we have a clear agenda to meet this zero toothpaste,” Dudy added.
On that occasion the Chairperson of the Suroso Independent Driver Alliance (API) representing the Logistics Driver Association in the country said they were committed to overseeing and implementing the Zero Over Dimension Overload policy in 2027.
“In essence, the driver will agree and we together with the government and the Parliament will escort to Zero (Odol) 2027. We have agreed that Zero Odol in 2027 must be carried out and enforced in our country.
So far, Odol vehicles, especially transportation of goods are often the culprit of terrible problems that occur in the country. This includes traffic accidents with injuries to casualties, congestion in a number of roads, damage to road infrastructure, even increased air pollution in various regions.
The National Police Korlantas Data said, there were 27,337 traffic accidents involving freight transportation in 2024. While Raharja Jasa Data showed that Odol vehicles were the number two accident, where in 2024 there were 6,390 dead victims given compensation.
Regarding infrastructure damage, it is estimated that it requires a budget of around Rp43.47 trillion per year to make repairs to damaged roads, one of which is caused by Odol vehicles.
