The first trial of a traffic accident case that killed FH UGM students,

The defendant of the BMW car driver who is also a student of FEB UGM, Christiano Pengarapenta Kidahen Tarigan, followed the trial accompanied by his legal team from Lapas IIB Sleman or Cebongan online.
While the courtroom at the Sleman District Court was also filled with dozens of fellow Argo from FH UGM.This trial was chaired by Irma Wahyuningsih as chairman of the panel of judges.
In the indictment read by the Public Prosecutor, on Friday, May 23 Christiano participated in lecture activities until sports activities until the afternoon.The defendant then played billiards in a place around 21:00 WIB until 23.20 WIB.
Next, he returned and arrived at his rented house, Caturtunggal, Depok, Sleman at 23.45 WIB.He took a break before going back to see his friends at a cafe on Saturday (5/24) at 00.45 WIB.
The prosecutor said Christiano went by driving a BMW car with police number B 1442 NAC, but at that time the police number plate was installed was F 1206. He drove his vehicle from the south to the north of the Palagan Jalan Palagan Student Army, Ngaglik, Sleman with a speed of 70 km/hour.
A hard collision occurred when Christiano was about to overtake a Honda Vario motorcycle with a B 3373 PCG numbered driven by Argo, through the right to exceed the markers at high speed.
However, at the same time Argo with his motorcycle intended to turn back to the right.Because the distance is too close, the collision of two vehicles cannot be avoided.
The prosecutor said Argo fell, while his motorcycle bounced to hit another car.As a result of the accident, Argo suffered serious injuries to the head, torn upper lip, bruised left thigh, left hand blister and died.
“That brother Christiano while driving a BMW car […] did not wear glasses, even though he should use glasses because he experienced cylinder eyes so that it disrupted concentration and vision when driving a car at night,” said the prosecutor in the indictment read Wednesday (3/9).
The prosecutor also mentioned that at the time of the incident, the defendant drove his car by exceeding the speed limit in the area which was only 40 km/hour.No alcohol or drug content in Christiano’s body was found based on laboratory check results.
In the first indictment, Christiano’s actions were considered to have fulfilled the element of Article 310 paragraph (4) of Law Number 22/2009 concerning Road Transportation Traffic (LLAJ), or Article 311 paragraph (5) of Law Number 22/2009 concerning LLAJ, as the second indictment.
Responding to the indictment read by the Public Prosecutor, Christiano through his legal advisor said he would submit an exception.The next trial was scheduled to be held on 10 September 2025.
