) June 2025 revealed Indonesian citizens increasingly pessimistic about
wages
the next six months.
The income expectation index of the survey is 133.2.This figure is down compared to last month’s index which was at 135.4.The decline also occurs when compared to the June 2024 index, which is 138.
“The decline in the index occurred in all expenditure groups, especially in groups of Rp1-2 million (123.9),” quoted from the consumer survey report in June 2025.
When viewed based on age groups, only age groups are more than 60 years and 41-50 years that show optimism of income expectations.
Even so, BI said that the income index of Indonesian people’s income was still included in the optimistic category.
The survey also captured consumer forecasts on the availability of employment in the next six months.The index increased in the majority of age groups, except the age group 20-30 years and 51-60 years.
Optimism is also reflected in consumer expectations of the development of business activities going forward.All age groups experience an increase in optimism.
The more fond of shopping
The BI survey revealed an increase in the portion of Indonesian people’s spending.The portion of group spending of Rp4.1-5 million increases the most, which is 73.9 percent.
The portion of savings decreased from 14.9 percent to 14.1 percent.The portion of the income of the people used to pay debts does not increase.
