Purbaya, who was appointed Minister of Finance on September 8 2025 to replace Sri Mulyani, explained that now the economy is starting to return positively.He said that many residents would have more money than before.
“The economy is starting to turn around, I think many people will have more money than before. Demand for housing should grow too,” he said.
Purbaya believes that the Indonesian economy can grow 5.5 percent or even up to 5.7 percent in the fourth quarter of 2025 in line with strengthening public consumption and the impact of government stimulus which begins to have an impact at the end of the year.
This positive movement, he said, was mainly due to his policy of placing IDR 200 trillion in state funds into member banks of the Association of State-Owned Banks (Himbara) starting September 13 2025.
The funds originating from the Excess Budget Balance (SAL) are intended to maintain economic liquidity, reduce market interest rates, and encourage productive credit distribution, especially to the real sector such as MSMEs.
