, said he would resign from his position today, Sunday (7/9).Shigeru will retreat even though he has only served for less than one year.
“Now negotiations about the steps of US tariffs have reached conclusions, I am sure this is the right time,” Ishiba said at a press conference, as quoted by AFP.
“I have decided to resign and give way to the next generation,” he said.
This decision emerged less than a year of 68 -year -old PM taking over the leadership of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).He won the party’s leadership in September 2024.
Media reports previously said that Ishiba wanted to avoid divisions in the party and that he was unable to withstand an increase in an increase so that he resigned.

His main rivals, Sanae Takaichi, who was considered a hardline nationalist, said on Tuesday that he would run for Ishiba.
LDP has ruled almost continuously since 1955, but the voters have left the party, including the peripheral groups such as Sanseito who are populist.
The factors include price increases, especially rice, decreased living standards, and anger over the corruption scandal in LDP.
