The poisoning incident occurred two weeks ago in the city of Kupang and Southwest Sumba.Deputy System and Governance Bgn Tigor Pangaribuan expressed concern over the incident.
“I represent the Head of the National Nutrition Agency to say the maximum apology to all parents of students affected by the food security incident from the free nutritional food process in SMP Negeri 8 Kupang City,” Tigor said during a visit to SMP Negeri 8 Kupang City, Monday (4/8).
Tigor conveyed his arrival to Kupang to conduct an internally evaluation.He also checked the system and food management in the kitchen or Nutrition Services Unit (SPPG).
He said there was something to be improved.Thus, it is hoped that similar cases will not be repeated later on.
“We do internal introspection first why this can happen because the kitchen or SPPG that does the service (MBG to SMPN 8) has been running from February 17, 2025,” Tigor said.
According to him, the evaluation will include the freshness of the food ingredients used by SPPG.Then, BGN will check the processing of food until it becomes food.
BGN will also highlight the process of distribution of food from SPPG to schools.The evaluation will be carried out every day.
“We also see how the delivery, distribution, because this is all chains where in the chain there may be contamination from these foods, so we evaluate one by one,” he said.
Hundreds of students of SMP Negeri 8 Kupang City after eating MBG occurred on Tuesday (7/22).There are about 200 students experiencing stomach pain, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, to shortness of breath.They must be rushed to three hospitals.
Cases of mass poisoning also occurred in Southwest Sumba on Wednesday (7/23).There are 77 students from three schools, namely SMK Negeri 2 Tambolaka City, Don Bosco Vocational School, and SMA Negeri 1 Tambolaka City which experienced poisoning after eating MBG.
Dozens of students finally had to be rushed to two hospitals and one puskesmas to receive medical treatment.
