Regarding the earthquake that occurred, BMKG recorded that there was no potential for a tsunami.
“The results of BMKG analysis show that this earthquake has updated parameters with a magnitude of M4.9,” said BMKG Earthquake and Tsunami Director Daryono in a press release, Tuesday evening.
He said that by paying attention to the location of the epicenter and the depth of the hypocenter, the earthquake that occurred was a shallow type of earthquake due to the subduction activity of the Indo-Australian Plate subducting beneath the Eurasian Plate.
“The results of the source mechanism analysis show that the earthquake has an upward shear movement mechanism (
oblique thrust
),” said Daryono.

The vibrations were felt as if a truck was passing), the West Nias area with an intensity scale of II MMI (Vibrations felt by several people, light objects hanging swaying).
