A member of parliament
Israel
, Ofer Cassif, driven out of the podium after giving a speech about the cruelty of his country in
Gaza Strip
, Palestine.
In the plenary session on Monday (4/8) night, Cassif said that at this time he could not deny that there was a genocide that occurred in the Gaza Strip. The surprising statement he conveyed by quoting David Grossman, the writer and novelist of Israel who gave a statement to the Italian Daily La Repubblica last week that Israel conducted a genocide for Gazans.
“As David Grossman said in an interview with La Repubblica that I wanted to quote: For years, I refused to use the term genocide. But now, after seeing photos and talking to people who had been there, I could not avoid it,” said a member of the parliament from the Left Wing Party Hadash-Ta’al, as quoted by Haaretz.
The plenary session, led by Deputy Chairman of Knesset Nissim Vaturi, was suddenly chaotic.Vaturi then interrupted Cassif by saying that his speech was not a quote but “made up”.
Along with that, he expelled Cassive from the podium. The expulsion was accompanied by cheers from the Gottlieb rope, a member of parliament from the Likud Party, the Prime Minister of Benjamin Netanyahu, which emphasized that there should be no use of the term genocide in Knesset.
“He can’t say ‘genocide’ here!”he said, before the officer dragged him down from the podium, as quoted
Al Jazeera
.
Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip since October 2023 has killed more than 60,800 people, the majority of children and women.Hundreds of thousands of people were injured and tens of thousands of people still disappeared.
The world community was recently compact in condemning Israel’s brutal aggression because it had resulted in 2.1 million Gazans hit by an acute hunger crisis.
Israel never admitted that there was a hunger crisis in Gaza and continued to reject the ceasefire.
Israel currently faces genocide cases in the International Court of Justice.Last November, the International Criminal Court also issued an arrest warrant against Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
