Bon Appétit, Your Majesty is indeed included in the category of drama adaptation, but not from webtoon.The drama was adapted from the web novel titled Surviving As Yeonsan-Gun’s Chef.
The web novel, also known as The Tyrant’s Chef, was written by Park Guk-Jae, published the first time in 2022, telling the best chef in France named Yeon Ji-young who was thrown into the Joseon dynasty era.
He then faced the 10th King of Joseon who was known as a tyranny and was so cruel.The web novel was published up to 269 main chapters and ended in 2024.

The Tyrant’s Chef also scored popularity when published in the NaVer Series.The creator then adapted the story in a webtoon format.
After the webtoon, The Tyrant’s Chef’s story was also adapted to the screen through a drama titled Bon Appétit, Your Majesty.
The novel by Park Guk-Jae uses the real world ruler Yeonsangun as one of the main characters.
However, the drama production team has changed the name of the character to King Lee Heon, so the story becomes far different from the true story.
The drama’s copyright was held by Dragon studio who acted as a production house.The project then appointed Jang Kyung-ik, Yoo Sang-won, and Jang Hyuk-Jae as creators.
Yoona and Lee Chae-min were then hooked as the main character, playing the talented chef Yeon Ji-Yeong and King Lee Heon.The drama also stars Kang Han-Na, Choi Gwi-hwa, Seo Yi-Sook, to Yoon Seo-ah.
According to Nielsen Korea’s report, the drama rating has been skyrocketing since the premiere on August 23.The opening episode of Bon Appétit, Your Majesty scored a rating of 4.8 percent, then increased to 6.6 percent in episode 2.
Episode 3 again increased to 7.5, percent before lowering up to two digits at 11 percent in the fourth episode.Bon Appétit, Your Majesty has the potential to pass the latest record if it continues to be warmly welcomed by the audience until the end of the story.
Bon Appétit, Your Majesty airs every Saturday and Sunday night at 21:30 WIB on Netflix.
