Fariz RM
Disappointed with lawsuits against the senior musician, namely six years in prison and a fine of Rp800 million, related to the case of drug abuse he experienced.
Fariz’s attorney, Deolipa Yumara said that his party objected to the demands of the Public Prosecutor (JPU) because it was considered not to weigh the position of his client as a user, not a dealer.
“From the beginning we have regretted it, especially since a Fariz RM he also regretted,” Deolipa said as reported

on Tuesday (5/8).
“We are very unfortunate because we do not pay attention to the aspects of a narcotics user, where they are actually victims.”
“It means that we don’t save his soul, not saving his physique, but we let him belangsak,” Deolipa said.
Deolipa also mentioned the statement of the Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Komjen Pol Marthinus Hukom who forbade his subordinates from catching drug users.
The statement issued by Marthinus in July 2025 said that drug users were victims of the dealers, although the Narcotics Law also still allowed the authorities to ensnare and punish narcotics users including artists.
“Moreover, the BNN, the Head of BNN has stated that the user is a victim, do not be punished,” Deolipa said.
“Sentenced there will not be a deterrent effect, he will remain addicted. But if he is rehabilitated, he will recover from the addiction earlier and he can be happy life,” he continued.
“So we as defenders will do pleidoi, of course with conscience,” said Deolipa.
Law Number 35 Year 2009 concerning Narcotics does regulate rehabilitation of drug users. The provision is contained in Article 54 which states, “Narcotics addicts and victims of narcotics abuse are required to undergo medical and social rehabilitation”.
However, in addition to rehabilitation, Article 127 also gave permission from the authorities to ensnare users with a penalty of up to 4 years. On the other hand, there are also Article 112 which should be used to ensnare dealers, but are often used to ensnare users.
On August 4, 2025, the Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the South Jakarta District Court demanded that the defendant Fariz Roestam Munaf (Fariz RM) for six years in prison for cases of narcotics abuse, psychotropic and other addictive materials (Narcotics).

On February 18, 2025, the police arrested the musician in Dipati Ukur, Lebak Gede, Coblong, Bandung, West Java based on ADK’s statement that Fariz also ordered the illicit goods to ADK.
The police then set both of them as suspects of alleged narcotics abuse namely ADK and Fariz RM (FRM).Evidence confiscated from Fariz RM is a type of cannabis and methamphetamine drugs.
Fariz is suspected of article 111 paragraph (1), Article 112 paragraph (1), Article 114 paragraph (1) of RI Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with the threat of a sentence of five to 20 years in prison.
