Syarif Hamzah Asyathry knows the flow of money related to alleged corruption in additional pilgrimage quota.
The material was investigated by investigators while examining Syarif on Thursday (4/9).
“So far the alleged flow is to the parties within the Ministry of Religion, so that the examination of the person concerned is for knowledge or what he knows is related to the construction of this case, especially related to the alleged flow of the money,” said KPK Spokesman Budi Prasetyo at his office, Jakarta, Wednesday (9/17).
Budi said the examination of Syarif in relation to individuals, not an institution.Even so, he said, the KPK did not rule out the possibility of examining GP Ansor leaders who knew the construction of the pilgrimage quota.
“So, later on anyone who is not limited, investigators view, suspect that for example the person concerned knows and indeed the statement is needed, so later the summons can be done for the information requested,” said Budi.
“And in principle, witnesses who are called in each case, including in the Hajj quota case, are to help the investigation process because every information and information is needed by investigators to open brighter from the construction of the Hajj quota case,” he concluded.
In addition, investigators also explored Syarif regarding the evidence previously secured from the home of former Religious Minister Yaqut Cholil Qouumas.
Evidence that was explored in the form of documents and electronic evidence (BBE).
In handling this case, the KPK explored allegations of acts against the law related to the use of regular and special Hajj quota received by Indonesia as many as 20,000.
The additional pilgrimage quota was obtained after the 7th Indonesian President Joko Widodo held a bilateral meeting with the crown prince who was also the Prime Minister (PM) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman al-Saud on 19 October 2023.
Based on Article 64 paragraph 2 of Law Number 8 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of Hajj and Umrah, the special hajj quota is set at 8 percent of the Indonesian Hajj quota.
The special hajj quota consists of special pilgrims and special pilgrims.
Moreover, 92 percent is intended for a regular hajj quota.
An additional Hajj quota of 20,000 should be distributed for regular pilgrims as many as 18,400 or equivalent to 92 percent, and special hajj quota of 1,600 or equivalent to 8 percent.
Thus, regular hajj which was originally only 203,320 will increase to 221,720 people.While special hajj which was originally 17,680 will increase to 19,280 people.
However, what happened was that the distribution was divided into 10,000 for the regular hajj quota and 10,000 for a special hajj quota.
This was as stated in the Decree (SK) of the Minister of Religion Number 130 of 2024 signed by the Minister of Religion at that time Yaqut Cholil Qouumas on January 15, 2024.
Based on the initial calculation of the KPK, found state losses in the alleged corruption case of additional hajj quota in 2023-2024 reached more than Rp1 trillion.This finding will be further coordinated with the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK).
Meanwhile, on August 11, 2025, the KPK issued a decree about the prohibition on traveling abroad for Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, staff especially Ishfah Abidal Aziz, and the owner of the Maktour Travel travel agent, Fuad Hasan Masyhur.
The KPK has also searched a number of places such as Yaqut’s residence in Condet, East Jakarta, the Office of Hajj and Umrah travel agents in Jakarta, ASN House of the Ministry of Religion in Depok, to the Directorate General of Hajj and Umrah (PHU) of the Ministry of Religion.
Many evidence allegedly related to the case was confiscated.Among them documents, BBE, to four -wheeled vehicles and property.
