In a joint statement, the leaders confirmed only an approach that combined active diplomacy, support for Ukraine, as well as pressure on Russia which could end the Russian-Ukraine War.

The letter was signed by French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Finland President Alexander Stubb, and European Union President Ursula Von Der Leyen.
They stated that they were ready to support Trump’s diplomacy, while maintaining military and financial assistance to Ukraine.This support is included through the cooperation of the Coalition of the Willing and the application of new sanctions to Russia.
In the midst of this support, it was rumored that Putin had made an offer to Trump’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, on Wednesday (6/8).Russia is said to have asked Ukraine to hand over the East Donbas region and Crimea so that the war ends.
Trump himself had mentioned the plan to “regional exchange” in the interests of Ukraine and Russia.However, he has not provided further details regarding the proposal.
“The highly anticipated meeting between me as US President and President Vladimir Putin from Russia, will take place next Friday, August 15, 2025, in the state Alaska,” Trump wrote on the Truth Social platform.
The meeting in Alaska will be the first for Trump since returning to serve as US President.The last time Trump and Putin met in 2019 at the Japanese G20 Summit.
Meanwhile, negotiating efforts between Russia and Ukraine have not produced results so far.Three rounds of talks have failed, and Putin still refused US calls and European countries to carry out a ceasefire.The Kremlin leader also closed the door to dialogue with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky.
