Indonesian Badminton Legend, Hendra Setiawan bought up the title at the BWF senior world championship in men’s doubles and mixed doubles.
The 2025 senior world championship was held at the Eastern National Sports Training Center, Pattaya, Thailand on 7-14 September 2025.
Hendra Setiawan participated in the age categories 35+ and 40+.The 2008 Olympic gold medalist in Beijing was able to show impressive performance because it retired from a professional career.
Hendra champion in men’s doubles with Tony Gunawan, 2000 Olympic gold medalist Sydney for Indonesia who is now on the United States passport.
Hendra/Tony won 21-18, 21-16 in the final of the Thai couple, Boonsak Ponsana/Jakrapan Thanathiratham.The convincing results brought Hendra/Tony to the highest podium.
While in the mixed doubles number, Hendra is paired with Debby Susanto.Hendra/Debby managed to win after defeating the host representative, Nawut Thanathiratha/Peeraya Munkitamorn 21-15, 21-9.
The title won by Indonesia proves that the former red and white athlete still has qualified quality despite retirement.At present Indonesia is in the top 10 medalists in the most senior world championship.
Indonesia is ranked eighth with a score of 13.5 gold, 6.5 silver and 10 bronze.Representative Red and White needs one more gold to pass Russia in seventh position which has 14 gold, 12.5 silver and 16 bronze.
