CEO
Sassuolo
Giovanni Carnevali bluntly about the challenges of recruiting players, including
Jay Idzes
, in the transfer market earlier this season.
Sassuolo who returned to the Italian League Serie A after being relegated to Serie B this season. In the 2025/2026 season, the black green team is determined to continue to survive at the elite level.
Therefore Sassuolo wants to strengthen and maintain the depth of the squad this season. One of his steps brought Jay Idzes from Venezia.
Jay Idzes wants to be brought in Sassuolo because of their defender, Luca Morro can offer a deportivo La Coruna.Jay Idzes is plotted as a substitute for Moro.
Sassuolo tried to take advantage of the momentum of the negotiations that occurred between Torino and Venezia in IDZES transfer.
Torino is willing to give funds of 8-9 million euros or equivalent to Rp170.6 billion to bring Jay Idzes, but Venezia still wants 10 million euros.
However, Sassuolo’s efforts to bring in Jay Idzes and a number of other players this season were not easy.According to Giovanni Carnevali, the transfer market is currently very complicated, unlike previous seasons.
“I have been in Sassuolo for 13 years, and I don’t think this transfer market has improved; instead it gets worse every year,” Carnevali was quoted as saying from
Tuttomercato
.
“We have reached an agreement with another club, but we cannot get it through agents. Especially foreign agents,” Carnevali added.
According to Carnevalli, the club nicknamed I Neroverdi still needs five players to be expected to perform well in Serie A 2025/2026.
“However, we need a lot of things; we still need to change some positions, and we still need four or five new players,” said Carnevali.
“Defender, central defender, winger, midfielder. Our attack lines have been filled. However, we need to make some technical decisions.”
Agreeing to the player’s agent to be the main obstacle of Sassuolo hoping that the players desired by coach Fabio Grosso.
“Having an agreement with the club but not the agent is complicated, we postpone many things, and that is not good,” Carnevali said.
Even so Carnevali is optimistic that it can provide players that suit Grosso’s needs before the transfer market is closed.
