Officially appointed Jeanine Pirro, a former TV host and a former judge, as a US prosecutor for the Columbia district.Pirro was appointed after being approved by the Senate in the 50-45 voting on Saturday (2/8).

, Pirro’s appointment is part of Trump’s efforts to accelerate the confirmation of the chosen officials, six months after returning to office.He had previously appointed Pirro as a temporary prosecutor since May.
Pirro, who also served as the Westchester County region prosecutor, was widely known through the Justice with Judge Jeanine program that aired for 11 years on Fox News.The 74 -year -old woman was the last to be a permanent host at The Five before joining the government.
The appointment of Pirro extended the list of conservative media figures brought by Trump to the cabinet and government agencies.Previously, Trump also appointed a former host of Fox & Friends Weekend Pete Hegseth as Minister of Defense and Sean Duffy, former Fox Business Host, as Minister of Transportation.
However, Pirro’s confirmation could not be separated from criticism.Senator Dick Durbin, a member of the Democratic Party and Chair of the Senate Judicial Committee, said Pirro was not worthy of being a permanent prosecutor and considered his appointment as a form of blind loyalty to Trump.
He also criticized Pirro’s track record who had spread the conspiracy theory about the 2020 Presidential Election.
Pirro is included in the Defendant’s list in the defamation suit by Dominion Voting Systems, after Fox News broadcasts fake accusations related to election fraud.The case was resolved through a payment of nearly US $ 800 million or equivalent to Rp13.10 trillion (US $ 1 = Rp16,383).
Besides being known through television, Pirro also wrote several books, including Gilk, Leakers, and Liberals: The Case Against the Anti-Traump Conspiracy, which was mentioned by The Washington Post, was very much in favor of Trump.
Jeanine Pirro’s ex -husband, Albert, was sentenced to a tax evasion case when Jeanine served as a prosecutor.He then received forgiveness from Trump in his first presidential term.
Pirro is not the only loyalist confirmed this week.Trump also managed to appoint his former lawyer, Emil Bove, as a federal judge at the level of appeal in a series of fast voting in the Senate.
