Ministry of Hajj and Umrah

Chairperson of DPP Amphuri Firman M Nur said that for more than 75 years, Hajj and Umrah affairs were under the auspices of the Ministry of Religion who also took care of many other fields.
However, he is grateful that now a special ministry is a ‘official biological father’ for the implementation of Hajj and Umrah.
“Amphuri has long missed us having a Hajj and Umrah Minister. In fact, we repeatedly expressed this hope openly when President Prabowo compiled a cabinet. Alhamdulillah, today was realized. We appreciate President Prabowo who has recorded a new history,” Firman said in an official statement on Tuesday (8/26).
According to Firman, this new ministry will be more focused in serving worshipers, as well as protecting the Umrah Travel Business Ecosystem (PPIU) and the official Pilgrimage Organizer (PIHK).
He also stressed the importance of the strategic position of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in international diplomacy, especially with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
“During this time, diplomacy relations are often lame. In Saudi Arabia has long been the Minister of Hajj and Umrah, while we are only the Directorate. With the existence of the ministry, our position will be Apple to Apple,” he added.
With an equal structure, Firman assesses that Indonesia can be stronger in lobbying policies that have a direct impact on worshipers.One of them, the Umrah and Hajj Mandiri policies that are considered tends to protect the interests of Syarikah or Private in Saudi.
If not anticipated, Amphuri said this could weaken official efforts in the country that had contributed for decades to worshipers.
“This ministry must ensure that pilgrims are protected as well as providing a healthy business space for PPIU and PIHK,” said Firman.
The DPR has officially passed the third amendment Bill Number 8 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of Hajj and Umrah to Law on Tuesday (8/26).
Through the ratification, the management of the pilgrimage is now no longer under the Hajj Organizing Agency (BP), but is managed directly by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
“We ask for approval from the factions whether the Bill on the third amendment to Law Number 8 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of Hajj and Umrah can be approved to be approved as Law?”asked Cucun at the meeting.
