.Asep Edi replaced the position of Inspector General Karyoto who was lined up to become the Head of the National Police Security Maintaining Agency (Kabaharkam).
The man who was born on November 16, 1972 was the son of a retired Army named Lieutenant Colonel Infantry Purn Anemerta A Sukmana.The 1994 Police Academy (Akpol) graduate was recorded to have a long experience in the field of detective.
Asep Edi began his career in the Bhayangkara Corps as Head of Sub -Department of Police Spripim Polri.He was also trusted to carry out tasks in a number of regions, including the 2011 Cirebon Police Chief, Sukabumi Police Chief in 2012, Bekasi City Metro Deputy Police Chief 2015 to the 2016 Tangerang Police Chief.
After that, Asep Edi continued his career in Kabaglotas Set NCB Interpol Divhubinter Polri in 2017. Three years in the position, Asep Edi was later appointed as Wadirtipidter Bareskrim Polri (2020).In the same year, Asep was appointed as Karokorwas PPNS Bareskrim Polri.
A year later or in 2021, Asep Edi was trusted to occupy the position of the Directorate of Criminal Act (Dittipidsiber) of the Criminal Investigation Police.
He has quite classy achievements while serving as Dirtipidsiber Bareskrim Polri with the rank of Brigadier General.He is known to be plunging directly to capture Youtuber Muhammad Kece over the alleged blasphemy case in Mengwi District, Badung, Bali in August 2021.
Asep Edi is also known to have a share in uncovering the Ferdy Sambo scenario case in the murder of Brigadier Joshua.
Asep Edi was involved in dismantling the truth related to CCTV at Ferdy Sambo’s house.He dismantled Ferdy Sambo’s engineering who ordered to take a vital CCTV footage of the murder of Brigadier Joshua.
Still in the same position, Asep Edi is also a case of quotex application fraud that became a conversation in the community in March 2022. This case involved Grazy Rich from Bandung, Doni Salmanan.
In 2022, Asep Edi was later appointed by Wakabareskrim Polri.Asep Edi’s work in the Criminal Investigation Police continued to climb when he was also appointed as Kasatgas Management of Narcotics Illness (P3GN).
In the period September 2023 to July 2024, the P3GN Task Force under the leadership of Asep Edi managed to capture nearly 38,000 drug perpetrators throughout Indonesia.It also confiscated 4.4 tons of methamphetamine, 2,618,471 ecstasy pills up to 2.1 tons of cannabis.
Asep Edi was also known as the Head of the Nusantara Cooling System (KAOPS NCS) operation in 2024. He was tasked with maintaining conducive conduciveness before and during the 2024 election.
Now, Asep Edi is trusted to occupy a new position as the number one person in the Jakarta Metropolitan Police.The appointment of Asep Edi is contained in the Telegram Letter Number: ST/1764/VIII/KEP./2025 dated August 5, 2025 signed by the Assistant of the National Police Chief Inspector General Anwar.
