Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association Regional Leadership Agency (
BPD PHRI
) DKI Jakarta Sutrisno Iwantono hopes that business actors will be invited together to discuss the material and content of the Draft Regional Regulation (Raperda)
No Cigarette Area (Ktr
)
.
“Because basically later who will carry out business actors. Do not let the regulation come out later, but it cannot be implemented because it is not possible,” Sutrisno said in Jakarta, Monday (4/8).
According to Sutrisno, various prohibitions in the articles of KTR Draft Regional Regulation, one of which is a total prohibition on smoking in night entertainment venues, will further pressure tourism businesses, especially hotels, restaurants, cafes,
live music
, bars, and the like.
Moreover, currently as many as 96.7 percent of hotels reported a decrease in residential levels throughout the first quarter of 2025.
The hotel and restaurant industry absorbs more than 603,000 workers in Jakarta and contributes around 13 percent of DKI Regional Original Revenue (PAD).
“We support the preventive efforts made by the government. What needs to be considered is that academic studies must be comprehensive, seen from various economic aspects broadly,” he said.
Sutrisno said that his party also welcomed the affirmation of DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung who said that entertainment venues such as karaoke, clubs, and others were not allowed to smoke in public places.Nevertheless, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is working on the application of a special smoking space in the Night Entertainment Place (THM), so that visitors can still smoke in the room.
“Don’t be eliminated at all. There must be an alternative. The provision of a special smoking space does indeed have to exist,” Sutrisno said.
He considered, if the form of a total prohibition, then this will have an impact on the operation of the industry that will lose visitors.
“If the industrial operations are depressed, layoffs that occur are not only about the hotel, but will also hit MSMEs, logistics, and artists who have been dependent on the urban tourism industry,” he said.
